Two Fond Du Lac County men were charged in connection with provoking a dog attack that left an 18-year-old man seriously injured. The Pierce County Herald reports the attack happened Friday in the town of Osceola.
Court documents indicate that a 58-year-old Campbellsport resident believed the young victim had stolen a collection of gold coins. He and the victim’s 43-year-old father , who is accused of aiding the crime, set up a meeting with the teen. At the meeting, they instructed the man’s dog to attack the teen.
The dog mauled the teen, leaving him serious injuries, including numerous lacerations and puncture wounds throughout his body.
Doctors stated they believe the victim will make a full recovery from his injuries. Meanwhile, the two men responsible for the attack were placed under arrest for several crimes, including false imprisonment, substantial battery, causing injury by negligence, and obstructing the police.
Animal control officials have placed the dog involved in the attacks in quarantine.
